Mongolian Odyssey: From Gobi to Heartland 10 Days Tour

Day 1 Tsagaan Suvarga / White stupa

On this day, our journey will set to  Tsagaan Suvarga / White stupa where in the middle of Dundgobi province /southern Mongolia/. The feature of this area is a rocky formations eroded by the wind and look like a ruined city.  

 It is a sheer slope that was an ancient seabed that featured a sedimentary structure that was created over millions of years. It is amazing to think landscape has been changed sea to desert for million years and, still has the features of the sea. One of the best activities tourists usually appreciate is the gaze upon the setting sun in the gobi. You will overstay in the ger close from the attraction.

Day 2 Yol Valley

 In the morning, our team will set our journey to Dalanzadgad city which is the capital of Southern Mongolia for the break and lunch. You can experience shops and markets of. 

After passing the city, we will drive to Yol Valley which is a chance to hike in narrow cliffs with a height of 2500 meters (8202,10 feet). Although the sun shines a lot in this region, the canyon remains dark, so that in the bottom, a part of the river remains nearly all year long covered by a thick layer of ice. Overnight stay in ger camp.

Day 3 Khongor Sand Dune

 In the morning, our team will set our our journey to Khongor sand dunes where you will travel northwest to southeast Mongolia. The dunes are 27 km at its widest covering 965 square km in total reaching 200 meters (650 feet) in height and length is about 180 km. 

Once you get there, we will visit a gobi nomad family and take a break after that we'll ride a camel about an hour around sand dunes and oasis. In the evening we will climb to the top of dunes, it will be physically exhausting but the reward will be marvelous. You will brief climb to the highest point and you can enjoy one of the most beautiful sun set from top of dunes. At night stargazing is very famous activity here because there will be 2500-3000 visible stars and milky way will be very bright. You will stay with nomad family which we have a contract.

Day 4 Bayanzag /Flamming cliffs/

This day we will set our journey to Flaming cliffs, home home to dinosaurs. This is where most of the dinosaur bones of the world has been found. The cliffs glow with a fiery red light that seems to mimic the radiance of the setting sun. 


These are best seen from below or across the escarpment. But no matter where you stand or what time you visit, you can still witness the breathtaking magnitude and raw beauty of the place come to life. There you will spend your day with gobi nomad family.

Day 5 Ongi Monastery

After the Flaming cliffs you will head to the Ongi monastery (also referred as Ongi Monastery ruins) is a active small monastery with a temple which was built on the ruins of a monastery complex that was formerly one of the largest monasteries in Mongolia, found in 1760 and consisted of two separate monastery complex. During recession time of the Mongolia in 1940s almost 90% of the monasteries has been destroyed. Even so, you can experience the ruins of the monastery and beautiful nature. The remaining 1 temple and small ger museum still hold the candles of the our history.

Day 6 Orkhon Valley

On this day you will leave the Gobi desert area /southern Mongolia/ to the central nature side of Mongolia. The place you will explore is Orkhon Valley. There you may explore hidden waterfalls and the beautiful nature of Mongolia. 

The Orkhon Valley Cultural Landscape sprawls along the banks of the Orkhon River in central Mongolia. It was inscribed by UNESCO in the World Heritage List as representing the evolution of nomadic pastoral traditions spanning more than two millennia. After that, you will spend a night in a nomadic family's ger which is built specially for visitors.

Day 7 Orkhon Valley Horse Riding

One of the best ways to experience Mongolia is undoubtedly horse riding in the wilderness. This is the day of experiencing true horse riding. You will ride a horse around a waterfall in a beautiful valley and there you can see historical memorials such as rock paintings and tombs of ancient Mongolia.

 Also, you may visit another genuine nomadic family with a lot of livestock and you can try to taste different types of dairy products. Especially, on this horse riding day you can observe and get to know how genuine nomadic people kept their horse and man bonding tradition over 2 millennia. Horse riding brings a lot of pressure to one's knee, it is not recommended if you have any leg problems or a weak knee.

Day 8 Great white lake and Khorgo crater

In the morning you will head to the Great white lake and crater. There you will do some hiking around crater to see amazing creation of motherland as a cave called yellow dog hell and ice tunnel. 

After viewing the crater area, you will see one of the biggest lake in central Mongolia called the Great white lake has rich families of birds such as wild goose, albatoras, crane, ducks etc. This grand nature has lovely beach where it is possible to swim if you like coldish water, as well as, our yurt camp will be just beside of lake to have view of beautiful lake.

Activities : Hiking, swimming, crater, cave 

Day 9 The Kharakhorum The Ancient Capital

This day, we will set our journey to the ancient capital the Kharakhorum which is the most important place of Mongolian history and there is the biggest and one of the oldest monastery called Erdene zuu in Mongolia. 

 This old historical. Then, you will spend a night ger camp in a city. In the evening as a parting gift we will cook you the Legendary Mongolian barbecue.

Day 10 Back to Ulaanbaatar

On a last day of our trip, we will head to the UB city and we will see a small pieces of sand on a way to a city. Our tour will end at the Ulaanbaatar city.
